Lashing Out…

I get so angry when various magazines churn out the same products as “The Best” out there.

I’ve actually tried a lot and I mean a lot of different products and either I’m a freak or just very picky, but I never seem to agree with their choices. My highly skeptical side concludes that these various magazines are sponsored by some of these cosmetic companies and so their ‘winners’ aren’t so much winners as they are obligated finalists.

Lucky for you all I’m sponsored by no one and so what you get from TisB is well…the Truth.

Today we’re talking mascara. Hands down the very best mascara I have ever used is Mascara Terrybly from By Terry! Her mascara separates, lengthens and coats with a formula that seems to transform your lashes over time. The longer I use it the better they look. As you may already know I’m a blue mascara fan (I’ve opened your eyes to this concept in Tricks are Treats) so I use her #3 Terrybleu but I’m also a mascara purist and for drama I go with her #1 Black Parti-Pris. There are more colors to choose from and the formula is the same with all.

At $48 it’s not a giveaway, but it is the best there is out there. You can find By Terry cosmetics at Barneys, Space NK, Bigelow pharmacy and online at ByTerry.com.

I got my introduction to By Terry with her Terrybleu mascara, but now she’s my go to for her Rose Cleanser, Lip balm, highlighter and my most favorite blush. You will be hearing about her in future blogs and hopefully the magazine industry will finally learn what I’ve known for years…By Terry is by far the very best!

Arachnophobia…

noun : pathological fear or loathing of spiders.

I have this… I am certain…my fear of spiders large and small is completely irrational and it paralyzes me.  Which may explain my equally irrational fear of False Eyelashes, I mean come on…it’s like strategically placing little hairy spiders on your eyelids.  Quite frankly the whole concept freaks me out.

I do however love the look of  long, separated, glamorous lashes.  With wedding/prom season upon us I have the solution to getting gorgeous glam lashes without terrorizing the arachnophobes around you.  It’s a two-stepped system but it works, I promise you.

So today’s tag-team recommendation in order of application are:  #1  Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($28.50 at Sephora.com) and #2  Givenchy Noir Couture 4 in 1 ($32 at Sephora.com) .  This Dynamic Duo will transform your everyday lashes into works of art.

#1 (Dior) features a rounded brush that promises volume and curl while #2  (Givenchy) has a brush that fits into the corners of your eyes so that every lash gets treated.  Both formulas offer even application and are fortified with nutrients so that your lashes don’t clump, break or lose their luster. Plus neither texture is heavy, so your lashes never feel weighed down.

If all that isn’t enough to get you to switch, think of me, your poor little arachnophobic blogger who has many a time bared witness to tiny little spider-like lashes trying to escape down’s someones face.  It ain’t pretty…

So happy spring/summer event season, be it proms, weddings, graduations whatever the occasion, Lash Out with confidence!

A Real Eye Opener…Like for Real…

I have recently just come across what is to me the single, best mascara out there.  I’ve tried so many throughout the years and have been satisfied with a few, but until recently none were truly “blog worthy.”  I happen to have thick hair and thus my eyelashes are heavy…to better clarify, if my eyelashes were a girl, they’d be “big-boned.”  So I will say that crucial to any mascara application on my face an eyelash curler is 100% necessary.  So much like building a house, you need to start with a strong foundation- the eyelash curler.  However once that’s done your go to product for curl, staying power, non-clumpiness and all around mascara perfection is…..Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara($24 at sephora.ca or $20 at urbandecay.com)

Not only does this last all day without any dried up flakiness, but my lashes do hold their curl and my eyes look alert and well framed all day.  I knew this mascara was the one when I gave it the NYC shopping test. (The most grueling of all cosmetic testing).  That being walking through the streets of Manhattan from morning to-night, sunglasses on and off with each store entry (and there were many I might add), the intense humidity found only in that city and of course my constant state of glistening perspiration (or in my case, full on sweatiness). This stuff lasted!

Even the brush on this mascara is user-friendly, literally, it’s curved in the shape of your eye which makes it’s application idiot proof (and by idiot proof I mean even I can use it)! So I hope it’s a winner for your lashes everywhere…

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do…
